Kumbhalgarh is just 90 kms. from Jodhpur on the Udaipur
- Pali - Jodhpur road. This jungle adjoins the
historical Kumbalgarh Fort and used to shield the
fort from invaders. Now it protects the rare
species of animals, struggling for their survival.
Situated in the lush green region of Udaipur, Kumbalgarh is
Wolf-a rare sight the only sanctuary of Rajasthan,
where activities of the rarely found wolf can be
seen. More than forty wolves inhabit the Joba area
of the sanctuary. During summer, when water
becomes scarce, pack of wolves roaming around
water holes is a common sight. |

Location of Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary
Kumbhalgarh is at a distance of just 90 kms. from
Jodhpur on the Udaipur - Pali - Jodhpur road. The
jungle, adjoining the historical Kumbalgarh Fort,
used to shield the fort from invaders. Now it
protects the rare species of animals, struggling
for their survival. The aravallis hills, which
remain barren for most of the year, turn green
during rains and provide shelter to sloth bear,
leopard, flying squirrel.

About Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary :
Kumbhalgarh wildlife Sanctuary is covering an area
of 578 sq Kms and is at an altitude of 500 to
1,300m. The kumbhalgarh sanctuary is supporting a
rich variety of wildlife like the Panther, Sloth
Bear, Wild Boar, Four Horned Antelope and
scientifically bred Crocodiles in the lake, are
the major attractions. The Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary
is also noted for Flamingos, Cormorants,
Spoonbills and Egrets usually seen in winter. The
Kumbhalgarh wildlife sanctuary is famous for it's
wildlife which includes- wolf, leopard, jackal and
a variety of birds.

Wildlife in Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary
Kumbalgarh Wildlife sanctuary has fine deciduous
and scrub forests, fed by rivers, covering some
impressive peaks and valleys of the Arravalli
range. The Kumbhalgarh Wildlife sanctuary is home
to a variety of wildlife, though you have to be
lucky to spot anything because of the thick
undergrowth.
Panther, sloth bear, nilgai antelope, sambar deer,
4-horned antelope, wolf, jackal, jungle cat, civet
and hyena are among the many animals present in
the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife sanctuary. Interesting
birds include gray jungle fowl, red spurfowl, gray
hornbill, gray and painted francolin, flycatchers,
eagles, owls, owlets etc. Storks, ducks etc can be
seen at the lakes.
How to reach Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary
There is no problem of reaching the Kumbhalgarh
sanctuary. It is a well connected place. You have
a host of choices to reach the place.
